What is the difference between Java OS cards and native cards?
Smart card operating systems come in two main types: native and Java cards. Native smart cards are based on proprietary, vendor-specific software, whereas Java smart cards are based on open standards, particularly Java Card, which is a subset of the Java programming language specifically targeted at embedded devices. Java Card allows the smart card to contain programs that are hardware independent and interoperable.
